PayPal has allowed a conman to scam me!

I was scammed for $23.90 in early February by a bogus website called www.emoryshop.com. The scam is that the seller takes your money through PayPal and then give you a tracking number (mine was with UPS). I did receive a notice on Feb 8 or 9th that it was delivered BUT nothing was delivered to and I was home when the supposed deliver took place. I called UPS who told me it was delivered but NOT to my address and they said I had to contact the person who shipped it. On the site www.emoryshop.com there is a phone number and email contact - BOTH OF WHICH ARE COMPLETELY BOGUS!

The number of my complaint is PP-D-55045808.

Twice I have attempted to get my money back but since there is a real (though not my item's) tracking number this seller claims that the package has been delivered and PayPal closes my case. I've been told to get an intranet memo from UPS about where the supposed package associated with that tracking number was ACTUALLY delivered to - but UPS said the only information they can give me or PayPal is that it was delivered to Albany NY (which is where I live and also where the package was delivered). UPS did tell that the package was delivered to a Business address and my address is a private home / residence.

So it is a catch 22. UPS can't give PayPal the info to prove I never received my item and PayPal refuses to believe me when I try to get this resolve.

I have been with PayPal for YEARS and always believed that my payments through PayPal were secure. OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE NOT!

Perhaps this seller, www.emoryshop.com, is the one who should be investigated! When I investigated the web site www.emoryshop.com I found numerous scam notification website where others had the same fraudulent experience as me and many of those instances were in February of 2020.

I am a senior citizen on a fixed income, $23.90 is several days of food for me. I am outraged that a company that I have been associated with for so long (PayPal) can be so callous to a long term and loyal customer!

I will not let this go. I will continue to contact PayPal and any legal government agency I can about being ripped off through PayPal.

And if this is not resolved I will go to every website that has reviews (including Facebook where I have thousands of friends) and let them know how PayPal treated a senior citizen and that PayPal allowed a conman to steal $23.90 from me.

I had a package that never arrived. I filed a dispute with PayPal which they declined because tracking showed package was delivered. My ring doorbell shows no delivery and it never arrived. I went to my closest UPS distribution location and they did a tracking on the UPS tracking number given to me by emeryshop. They were able to show that the tracking number was stolen from another shipment and printed out everything for me. I have reopened my dispute through PayPal and I am hoping for my money to be refunded. This is also being investigated by UPS’s security department.

I did receive my refund today PayPal had denied my case twice but I called the resolution center and fully explained the paperwork I had submitted from UPS clearing showing the tracking number was for a package that was shipped from someone other that Emeryshop and delivered to an address that wasn’t mine I guess I just had to be persistent

I wish you luck in getting your money back. At this point I don’t even want my money refunded. When a company claims to have buyer protection as PayPal does( see below copied directly from their site) they should at the very least take the time to investigate the claim. I can see where these types of scams could be very costly to PayPal if they had to refund everyone’s money but to treat a customer like they are the criminal when all that is being asked is for an investigation and possible solution to stop this company is unacceptable. If they don’t make this right with their customers, I hope someone files a class action lawsuit against them. As for me, 60 dollars is not worth my time and effort. Lesson learned, I will never use PayPal again and will encourage everyone I know to do the same. However I will keep all communications and documentation on this if anyone can use it to help their own case. You're Protected If: 1. You were charged for something you didn't purchase. This may mean someone has used your PayPal account without your knowledge or approval. Report it within 60 days and PayPal will investigate. You will be covered by our $0 Liability for Eligible Unauthorized Transactions program. 2. Your order never arrives. All you have to do is log in to your account and open a dispute to get the refund process started. If you made the purchase on eBay, start here instead.

Unfortunately you can’t sue PayPal in a class-action suit. A link was posted by kernowlass, I believe, recently. You can sue individually if you want. The buyer protection is a great line to convince you to join. But if fake tracking numbers can be accepted as proof of delivery, then protection is a broad exaggeration.

My bank helped me so I only list to help others who are thinking about using emeryshop. This is what I found on BBB website....as suspected, they go by other names and Emeryshop was the newer website name they were using. It is still active so hopefully people are able to find these complaints against them. Per BBB website..."According to consumer complaints and submissions made to BBB Scam TrackerSM, JerseyEasy and Hudashdy provided consumers with functioning tracking numbers from verified shipping companies. Despite delivery confirmation notices, the packages never arrive at the proper address. Several consumers report disputing the charges via their payment processor, but because the shipping services marked the packages as delivered, consumer disputes were denied."
