PS5 scammed

Hi, i gave a deposit to a PS5 seller (classified ads) via my paypal (credit card) account.

He wanted a deposit to keep the PS5 for the time i needed to get there.

Right after he received the payment no more news and spoofed phone number and text message. He never showed up at the rendez vous point...

I opened a dispute on paypal for an unauthorized access or transaction (since i had no other choice in canada and in french...) . They closed the case saying Case closed not covered.

BTW i tried to find the escalate button or link but to no avail...

Any help please?

Anyone have the phone number to talk to a real human at paypal...

Thank you for your time to help me.

I am so angry at myself...

A dispute for an unauthorised transaction is telling paypal that your account was hacked and used without your consent to make that transaction.
Paypal would check IP addresses and devices and close the dispute if it was you that made the transaction.

You are only allowed 1 dispute per transaction so the only way you can get a second dispute opened is to contact Paypal (when and if you can) and see if they will open a second dispute for you.
They may decline citing policies but if you say you made a mistake then they might open a second dispute for you.

If not then if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then consider contacting your card issuer and see if they will help you with a chargeback?

HOWEVER if you only had the unauthorised option in the dispute list then did you pay using the friends/family option?

If so then you negated your buyer protection and sent a 'gift' of money to the scammer and paypal won't be able to help you.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Sorry buddy! I went through the same thing yesterday. Lost $150. PayPal wasn’t able to help either. Just wanted to share that you weren’t alone. And hopefully these damn scammers will get what they deserve. Cheers.
