Just sick and tired of a simple transaction turns in to a great deal of hassle and loss of my time

I cannot understand why I am being penalised  for this misrepresented or perhaps “Fraudulent” transaction by an ebay seller their heading clearly stated x2 they only sent one item !

2 X Castrol Edge Professional Longlife III 5w-30

Paypal say they are in my favour. Clearly they are not.

Paypal tell me to return the item for a refund . But I have to pay the postage ! £13.75 postage for items I paid £27.99 for the items.

Can you please explain why the seller is let from any recriminations and I, the innocent party has send it back at a loss of 50%

Where is the justice being shown here ? Thank you Paypal

Your purchase may qualify for a return shipping refund.

Here is a PayPal link with details.

Thank you for getting back to me.

Though have just found out the shipping has to be "Recorded" so the shipping  cost will be £26.60 sterling ! (same cost of item)

As you say "May" cover cost of postage.

That is a gamble, as Paypal on the phone where in fact most unhelpful. This has left me with little faith in them and their system. My point is they are siding with a seller who has miss-sold, made a fraudulent listing ! They are still operating !

Though I understand Paypal are going to be superseded by Adyen in the coming future as the premier payment company for ebay. Lets hope this company will be an improvement . So this could be a breath of fresh air, only time will tell.

Thank you for your time it is most thoughtful and very helpful.

Your best bet is to read up on paypal buyer protection before you start buying so you know what is and what is not offered.
In the event of a dispute you nearly always have to return the item back to the seller so you bear in mind possible return trackable costs before you buy from that seller / item / country.

Paypal state this >>
PayPal is not obliged to reimburse you for any costs that you incur to comply with any of PayPal’s requests for cooperation for the purpose of resolving the problem (including, without limitation, costs that you incur to return a SNAD item to the Payment Recipient or another party as PayPal requests), although sometimes it may reimburse these costs.

Although they will compensate you for some of the cost if you have activated this at some point before you made that transaction .....

If you buy from a business in the UK then you can normally recover those return costs via the small claims court although most UK businesses would reimburse you anyway. (BUT if you choose to buy from a private or international seller you may not have that option).

You also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer instead of a Paypal dispute if you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card.
