SCAMMERS post fake Paypal contact information threads on here. I report as many as I can as do the others but some slip through.

For the real number.............

Click on the words "Help / Contact" at the bottom of paypals pages and use the phone option in the blue band at the top OR very bottom of page dependent on what country you are in. Scroll down past the list of help questions and click on 'Call us' bottom of that page. Log in and get the code.

OR

have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their facebook or twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Same exact thing happened to me. Since I was unable to reach a live person at paypal, I googled PayPal customer service and was connected to a toll-free number. This person identified himself as a paypal customer service rep instructing me to purchase a Google gift card with an ID number to solve my FRAUDULENT purchase, but more importantly to stop hackers from stealing all of my account information associated with my paypal account!! Unfortunately for me, he was so convincing, I bought this card but didn't give him the ID number. I was able to look this number up and see he was a scammed.
