Ebay buyer raises dispute through PayPal without speaking to me first over n issue?

Hi

I sold a jacket through eBay on 8/8/19. On 30/8/19 buyer goes straight to PayPal and opens a dispute saying the item was bought in error.  They haven't ever spoken to me about this.  First I knew was opening Resolution Centre in PayPal by pressing button.  I then saw and read the details of the dispute they raised. No one purchases an item in error!

I think this person is trying to scam both me and PayPal and to keep the item?  I spent most of the day trying to get through to PayPal.  Three times someone rang me back, transferred me to somewhere else and I was left for ages with music playing and not one person spoke to me.  And it is so very difficult to get through to PayPal! I even tried to email and I don't even know if this went through as it doesn't tell you it's sent. Anyone else experienced this sort of dispute raising or trying to get answers?

Ask buyer to return item for a refund if a SNAD dispute is filed and escalate the case to PayPal for review and decision. If you were returned a brick, or an envelop to a near by address, not to your return addresss, report the buyer to the police: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk and to PayPal for abusing buyer protection program.

Sometimes once the buyer knows they have to return item on their dime, as ordered by PayPal in order to get a refund, it'll just blow over. But if they do a scam return as mentioned above, report them.
