Many years ago when I first opened up my PayPal account, i used my nickname that everyone calls me with.
Last year when I wanted to add an 'ACORNS' account, they requested that I use my 'Legal Name' to tie it in with my PayPal account.
I requested a name change online with Paypal, went through the excruciating process of uploading my SSN, Driver's License, Bank Statements and what not... and then ABRUPTLY!... Paypal Blocks my account.. with the asinine explanation that my 'nickname' does not resemble my 'legal name'. (Face palm!)
I must've called multiple times and sent multiple emails but no one at Paypal even remotely tries to understand it. I am Surprised at the lack of basic understanding!?
The Customer Service people i'm talking to are probably in Philippines or Singapore and maybe they DONT understand how nicknames work in the US!!
Maybe they need training in 'human-speak' or some cultural understanding!
They've blocked my years-old account and I can't send or receive money from ANY of my friends/family or transfer to any of my bank accounts that i have setup with them.
PAYPAL HOLDS YOUR ACCOUNT HOSTAGE!
They force block your account and there is NOTHING you can do!
There is NO Supervisor/Customer Service Manager who can even make a decision in favor of the end-user.
Its like they're following some stupid broken paperwork and are robotic!
I would recommend ALL PayPal members to move away from here and use Zelle or Venmo or any of the other services who still have a human touch and are willing to listen to people!
