I received a text message this evening from 62226 asking to authorise a suspicious payment. The amount of money and company name was correct from a purchase I had made previously in the evening. PayPal A -£(amount) GBP transaction with (company name) on 1 October 2018 was marked suspicious. Please reply "1" if authorised or "2" if not authorised. Is 62226 a PayPal number and is this text message genuine or fraudulent?

You're not the only one it happens to. It is actually genuine but PayPal doesn't say anything because it's an extortionate premium service scam so they can take extra money from you (roughly £1 a text). Payments go through fine even if you do not reply. I'd recommend you ignore it or email or call PayPal if you're concerned.
