Regarding Changing Accounts and Accessing Balance

Hello,

I just concluded my first transaction through PayPal, I had a friend in another country pay me through PayPal so I could send him something.

Now, my money is being held by PayPal and I can't gain access to it until I fulfill these 3 requirements.

I actually wasn't aware that I had a business account, instead of a personal account, but that might have been my fault.

The problem is that I don't actually make a lot of transactions with PayPal so fulfilling these 3 requirements (one of which is to conduct 5 successful transactions) is not going to be possible for me, and I realy need access to that money. I need to pay bills and I'm not quite sure I can't wait the necessary 21 days. Is there really no way that I can access the money earlier?

I've tried contacting PayPal about changing my account status thinking that that would help, but I just get pregenerated emails that ask me to repeat the process I just did.

I would really appreciate some assistance, since I was expecting that transacting throug PayPal would be more convenient.

Thank you very much!

Sean

Hello Seanandrew,

Thank you for reaching out our PayPal HeadStart community.

We are sorry to hear about your experience.  The payment hold is a global practice in PayPal, to encourage faster delivery and ensure buyer satisfaction which applies to business and individual accounts.

This also happens if you newly started to receive payment as we have time to make sure your buyer didn’t experience any problems with their order. Once you have established yourself as and build up a selling history, this payment hold can be lifted.

Please log into your account and visit resolution center to view your PayPal seller status, along with your specific graduation requirements. For an account, specific inquiries, please reach out to us through one of our customer service channels we'd be happy to help! You can call or email us by clicking the "Contact" link at the bottom of your PayPal page. We are also available on Facebook at www.facebook.com/paypal or on Twitter at @AskPayPal.
