Latest Drugstore.com $10 off $20 promotion - Paypal not available?

So, I received the email from Paypal on 3/16/11 for this promotion and immediately went to Drugstore.com to make a purchase.

 

It accepted the code that was provided.

 

However, when I went to submit the order, this message appears:

 

"We're sorry, PayPal isn't available right now. Please go back and select another method of payment. "

 

So, I read in the terms and conditions that Paypal or Drugstore.com:

 

"PayPal and drugstore.com reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or modify part or this entire Offer at any time without notice, for any reason in their sole discretion."

 

But this is ridiculous?!

 

If they pulled the promotion as soon as they sent the email, then these paypal emails are nothing more than spam. Or worse, a bait and switch ploy.

Welcome to the boards!

 

This actually sounds as if the merchant is experiencing temporary issues with their custom checkout rather than the removal of the promotion.  I would recommend going back and attempting check out again.

Hi, so I received the email from Paypal today, notifiying me to use the coupon code before it expires, however, upon entering the site...looks like the issue still remains.

 

What's going on?

I entered the promotional code as directed- saw a savings amount and completed the sale. However, I did not get my $10 off- I got the sale price of the item! I immediately tried to cancel and drugstore.com said the warehouse had already processed my order- bull oney! I expected better from a paypal offer! will not participate in anyfurther pay pal 'bonuses'.

I have been trying to use that coupon for two days and keep getting the same message.  Called Drugstore.com and PayPal today.  Drugstore.com says it's a PayPal issue.  I waited on hold for more than 1/2 an hour for the specialist at PayPal to find out why I keep getting the error message before I was disconnected.  Too much hassle for $10 - I guess I won't be shopping.

Hey all~I spoke to Drugstore.com for the second time today after finally getting someone to help me at PayPal.  The problem is a Drugstore.com server checkout-connection-to-PayPal issue.  There is a work around by choosing another payment method - the coupon should remain applied to your order.  It is best to have a Drugstore.com specialist on the line with you though to be certain the discount remains applied through the final checkout.  Worked for me.  Not sure it was worth all the time sorting it out, but there is some satisfaction it getting the bloody thing to work finally.  Good luck!

Same exact thing happened to me with that $10 off order and now a beauty.com $15 off $75 order.  Oh well...then not going to make the purchase.  "We're sorry, PayPal isn't available right now. Please go back and select another

just got the same message!! and here it is September 2011!!  Paypal is not available BUT they were able to hold my money!! No orders in my account through Drugstore.com though.   What a scam!
