How to tell when card reader is fully charged solid red light never goes out ?

as the title suggests I had the card reader on charge from 5pm till 6am the solid red light never went out the whole time, yet when I turned the charger on the battery symbol was full, is the red light supposed to go out when fully charged.

I would think that if you leave the card reader plugged in constantly, the red charging light will remain on. 

Once you can see that hte battery is showing as being full on the device, you should be good to go
