Engine Purchase on Ebay - Buyer Protection?

Is the buyer protection policy the same for a car engine, as any other item?
I have seen an engine for my car on Ebay, but the buyer states it is a private sale, and offers no warranty.
If I were to buy the engine, and fit it, and it had a fault, would I be covered fully under the buyer protection policy?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi guys,
Depending on how the item is listed, you could be covered if the engine does not work when it is fitted to your car.
If you are advised that the engine works and has no faults, then you should be covered. However, if you can see that the listing says that the engine has not been tested and they can not confirm that it is in a working condition, this could result in you not being covered for the engine under PayPal and eBay's Buyer Protection Policies.
I hope this information helps,
David.
