Buyer Protection for Alibaba website

hi paypal,

im about to purchase some item trhough alibaba.com and was wondering if i would be eligible for buyer's protection if i were to pay using paypal.

some things to take note of is that there isn't any pay with paypal option on the page.

the buyer gave me his email to transfer the money to and that's it.

it seems rather fishy on my side, so i asked if he could send me an invoice through paypal.

if im paying through the invoice on paypal, will i be eligble for buyer's protection?

fyi, the seller's from china

and im paying for everything in 1 shot, not in parts

If you paid an invoice then you would have buyer protection.

But that protection is not 100%.

Yes it would cover you for non receipt BUT what if they send empty boxes??

If you filed a dispute for item received but not as described then you have to prove the item was misdescribed eg if you were buying a rolex watch and just put "watch" on the invoice and got a toy watch then it may be seen as not misdescribed.

So you would need to put in detail what you are hoping to receive or get the seller to do so on the invoice.

Also if the item arrives misdescribed then the onus is on you to send the item back trackable at your own expense before you get a refund and that can be expensive if its international.

Finally we get more problems listed on this board from buyers buying from China than anywhere else.

Well, the seller sent me an invoice on eBay with the following information about the item. Unit price: $1.79 Quantity: 110 Description: including: size is 35*4 cm 25pcs blue , 25pcs green , 25pcs red , 25pcs pink , 10pcs white, shipping fee is USD52 , handling fee of PayPal is USD10 Size is 35*4 cm
