Accidentally purchased with insufficient funds in my bank account?

So I made a really stupid mistake and accidentally made a payment from my bank account for something I thought I could afford but couldn't. I needed to order it as soon as possible (it's a present for a friend) and I thought I had been paid last Friday at my new job (I get paid alternating weeks) but it's actually this Friday, my bad. So I was a good 50 dollars short of funds for what I purchased but the payment surprisingly still went through. Looking at the transaction details it says that it did an instant transfer from my bank account even though I didn't have the funds. I have a backup card registered on my account because PayPal asked me to the first time I bought something and I was given the impression you had to enter a card on your PayPal, even though all it is is my Visa Debit card that's linked directly to the funds on that same bank account. I'm going to be paid in a few days and I heard PayPal waits several days to see if the funds clear so will I be okay? Is it likely I'll get an overdraft fee for my account? And just as a side question, I had no idea when I was registering my card that it was for backup in case my bank had insufficient funds, I just thought PayPal needed to have the info for what card was linked to your bank account. But there's no credit on that card, I only use it for debit. Is that okay to have it as my backup card or is that going to cause me problems? Thanks in advance for any answers!

Payments are never instant > paypal credit the seller for you and then they take the wait for the funds to process from your funding source ie bank account.
If that fails then they normally try a few days later and if that fails they use your back up card.
If all of those fail they put your paypal account into negative and limit it until you pay them back again.
But if that happens they normally remove your bank account as a funding source in the future.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
