Hi Trev57v, and welcome to the forums!
Your balance on your PayPal account will say $0, even if you have a valid funding source. When you make a purchase, the page will show what funding source is being used, and there will be an option to change it before completing the payment. If there are no eligible funding sources, the payment will not be able to be made without adding a different funding source, like a bank or a traditional credit card.
You may not be able to use a prepaid card with your account. Prepaid cards are not recommended for use because they frequently aren't able to pass validation. A prepaid card is not associated with your name or address, and when our system attempts to validate the card with the card issuer, that validation may fail. If using a prepaid card, your best bet is to use it directly with a merchant who accepts credit card payment.
For a prepaid option designed to work with PayPal, you may want to take a look at Green Dot MoneyPak.
I hope this helps!
Olivia
