Why is my case taking so long?

I have a case open in paypal regarding an item not recieved , the seller was banned from ebay (temperarily as it seems) and the auction details where then removed from ebay leaving no other choice but to open a paypal claim.
The claim PP-001-148-556-248 was escalated and now paypal are reviewing the case, but It has now been four/five days or so since they started reviewing the case and from what i gather it will be automaticly closed sometime in january whether resolved or not.
When will I find out what is giong on? I still have not recieved the goods and the seller has not responded to my emails, i can not message direct via ebay since the auction was removed and I have no record in the my ebay won items list and now it seems I can'#t add any more replies via paypal as they are in review.
This is the first time I have tried using this forum and the only reason I am here is because paypal doesn't seem to have any online live support like ebay does only that stupid automated louise program,

These things work on a queue basis, it all depends on how many cases are waiting to be looked at and what countries are involved (and of course how many people are staffed!) . You can try contacting customer service and they might be able to work it for you immediately, not always though depending on the complications involved.
