I received a payment for £44 2 days ago. I logged on to my paypal account directly from the web address, I did not click on any email links and the money is definately in my account.
I have emailed the sender of the payment to ask what it is for (as I am not selling anything and am not expecting any money). So far I have had no response. I have just emailed paypal for advice too but was hoping someone here could help!? I was charged £1.70 for paypal receiving fees too!

Wow, that does sound strange, and fair play to you for just not taking the money and running. If you are still unsure as to what the payment is for and you get no response from then sender. You can always refund the payment. It will go straight back to where it came from and the receiving fee will be cancelled. Here’s how to refund a payment:
1. Go to http://www.paypal.co.uk/ and log in to your account.
2. Click ‘History’ near the top of the page.
3. Click ‘Details’ next to the payment you want to refund.
4. Click ‘Issue a refund.’
5. For ‘Refund amount,’ enter the amount to you want to refund, then click ‘Continue.’
6. Review the information, then click ‘Issue Refund.’
