Hi i am very new to paypal and have just tried to sign up for an account but it says there are problems with my card and wont let me sign up, could this be because i am overdrawn and i dont have an overdraft and therefore will have to wait til my account is in credit before signing up, please someone help me understand this all...thanks

Welcome to PayPal and the community!
Yes, being overdrawn would cause problems when adding your card.
The reason behind this is when you are adding your card there is a test charge of £1.00/$1.00 sent to your card to make sure that the details are correct, with the account being overdrawn it has caused the test charge to be rejected and in turn your card refused by the bank.
Do try again once the account has credit.
