Non instant payment pending from ebay buyer

I've been away from ebay for a while so this is new to me. I sold an item on ebay and got a payment pending notice, saying that the buyer has paid a non-instant payment and that I should wait for it to complete before sending the item. It doesn't say anything about an e-cheque anywhere
I'm wondering if this is quite normal and I should just wait it out? I've no negative feedback and the fact that paypal is saying to NOT post anything yet probably means this isn't to do with anything my end?
I don't want to badger the buyer or sit on his item for longer than I should.

Hi there Harrybanjo,
Is there a case open in the Resolution Centre?
If so then the issue is from the buyers end and PayPal have to make sure the transaction is secure before releasing it to your account.
If you have not sent the item then don't until PayPal say to do so.
