Kathy Smith Scam

Hi folks,

I have very nearly been scammed by a user named *** ***. If you type into google search *** paypal' there are numerous scams that this person has been involved in.

Thats what I got. I was selling an item on ebay and they emailed me personally. Seemed fine but then after I'd sent an invoice it got confusing in terms of payment for the carrier to collect the item, requiring credit card and western union information.

This link is from someone trying to sell their motorbike and gives the full converstaion details, the conversation is almost EXACTLY how my conversation with the user Kathy Smith went.

Her email and paypal email/username is *** @ google mail

I hope this helps anyone who come across this user, sorry scammer, in the future.

I am so glad that I decided to google Kathy Smith, seems as though she doesn't give up easily! I advertised a beautiful leather lounge on Gumtree and within an hour she was asking if I still had it! Suspisious of her email address I decided to check her out - well what do know, she seems to be a very active scammer. I hope that this helps someone else who may be tempted to believe her..

LOl its probably not a her at all but a group of people using that id to scam people.

This was the exact same letter they wrote to me. It's a con with regards to the freight side of things. They come up with a lame excuse about either not being able to pay the courier or credit card problems to con us out of $$$. I just wish I'd found all this out before corresponding backwards and forwards. At least it was only time wasted and not money.

Same things has happened to me today 13 Sept 2014! Kathy smith working in a oil rig in nz or something and wants my lounge suite for my lowest price. Emailed her back and told her back and gave a figure higher than what was advertised. I told her I wanted cash also, then gave me a sob story that her husband and son died in a accident etc etc. Bloody scammer! This happened an hour after posting on gumtree. Then I received another text from her (i had 2 sofas advertised) saying the same thing! I just hope she cant use my info from email (name etc).

Hi. Tried with me as well. Said she would pay the money into my bank account. Should of kept going with it to see if she'd do it! Thank you all who have posted. If I hadn't of googled her name I would have not known better.

I'm being scammed on Gumtree by 'kathy smith'. Here are the relevant emails.

Her URL shows up as a 404 error, which is what alerted me.

I just had this exact thing happen to me. I was silly to think that someone would buy a lounge suite sight unseen. I just wish I had googled the oil rig details before coresponding backwards and forewards. I wont be wasting anymore of my time. Cash buyers only from now on.
