How do I get rid of pay after delivery?

I never asked for this and the number of emails I'm getting informing me of this is becoming irritating. I don't want pay after delivery, I just want the usual service. How do I get it?

It would appear that, since PayPal moved house, the option to turn off PAD is no longer there. That shouldn't be a problem though because if you have a PayPal balance then that will be used first. Any amount over your balance will then be paid for with PAD. You also have the option to select your preferred payment method at checkout.

Incorrect, if you use pay after delivery then paypal DO NOT use funds in your paypal account balance first.

As PAD can only be scheduled from a bank account its the only time that funds in your paypal account balance are not used.

To turn it off go here >>>>>

To change the default way you pay for purchases:

1.Log into your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk.
2.Click the COG SYMBOL 'SETTINGS' near the top right of the page. (spanner thing next to log out).
3.Scroll down to 'Payment Settings'.
4.Click 'Pay after Delivery',
5.Under 'Paying after delivery is my preferred way to pay', click 'Turn this option off'.

Well that's weird. When I checked this morning that option wasn't there in my payment settings - now it is. All that was showing was Pre-approved payments. I (wrongly) assumed that the option had been lost in the transition.

I have always opted out of Pay after Delivery but recently it has defaulted to it when paying on eBay and I sometimes don't notice in time. I then have to go into the PayPal transaction page and pay it immediately.

The really annoying thing is that it always uses the bank account even though I've enough in my PayPal balance. How can it come up as the payment method when the option is not even turned on???

Not sure you understood - it IS turned off, and always has been, but it appears to make no difference.

Try turning it on,  then off again.

Sadly that did not work either. I have messaged PayPal about it but not had a reply, as yet. Meanwhile I'm trying to remember to check which payment method PP is about to do before clicking 'pay'. It's when I click automatically (knowing there's money in the account) that's annoying.

Strangely it's not every purchase - wierd...

Anyway, I'd just wondered if anyone else was getting the same problem, but perhaps not. Thanks for your replies however.
