I no longer have access to the email address I used to open my account years ago. I now have a different email address which is set to "Primary". I've set up an online shop which uses PayPal, and I've entered my old email address for payments, just like I always have. Will I be able to put my new email address in instead, or will I loose any payments into cyber-space? I want my customers to be confident, so using my old email address will NOT do that because it looks like they're paying someone else!

Yes, simply replace the old address with the new one.
If funds are sent to old address and it's no longer linked to your PayPal Account, the status of the funds will show "unclaimed". After 30 days PayPal will return the funds to the sender.
If the old address is still linked to your PayPal Account, you would still receive the money.
