Just made a withdrawal request and got the message: Your withdrawal request has been held over for 24 hours while we review it for 'security reasons'. Never had this before in 6 years. Anyone know why? Are others getting this nonsense?

At least you got that e-mail & it sound like you should get your money soon! I've had nothing more since the original 'security reasons' rubbish one. I feel like I'm being ignored...!!
HELLO PAYPAL, IS THERE ANYBODY THERE......???!!!

We've done 9 withdrawals on this new system so far and the first 4 have all come through, each one about 24 hours after the request was made. As I write, the next one is due to appear in about an hour's time.

Same problem here.
Had an account for over 10 years, and today it tells me that I have to wait 24 hrs for security checks on my withdrawal!!!
WTF?
Who the **bleep** do Paypal think they are? As soon as all my money is in my account, I'm never using these poxy companys again. Paypal and Ebay are as corrupt as any bank, and think they are above the law by hiding in Luxembourg.
I urge you, my fellow disgruntled users, to boycott Ebay and Paypal, and hit them where it hurts.

Exactly the same here, after 10 years to be hit with this nonsense, emails saying one thing, Customer (dis)service an other. I tried to close my account, but guess what, account cannot be closed until all current transfers have been completed. As soon as I can I will be hitting PayPal in the pocket and will be Tweeting and Facebook everyone to do the same until they stop this stupidity. I also think that holding onto my money against my express wishes is illegal, and have asked my lawyer for advice.

Nice. Let us know what your lawyer thinks. I think because there's a clause buried away in Paypal's terms & condtions about these withdrawals there's not much you could do, although I fully agree with you that it should be illegal to hang onto people's money WITHOUT WARNING THEM.

Unfortunately I think they do warn us - with that e-mail that refers us to the Terms & Conditions. Doesn't make it right but appears to give them a get out to act like this. Luckily my witheld funds got released yesterday without me having to chase them & my next two withdrawals didn't get confiscated. So I really don't know what they're up to....
Good luck to everyone else suffering from this nonsense, hope you all get YOUR MONEY (Paypla please note!!) very soon

Yup, my withdrawal to my bank is being held while it's reviewed - and the money was from a gift transfer from a friend! Absolutely no sense to it at all... I'm never using Paypal again for gift payments.
