Just made a withdrawal request and got the message: Your withdrawal request has been held over for 24 hours while we review it for 'security reasons'. Never had this before in 6 years. Anyone know why? Are others getting this nonsense?
I think the idea of contacting Watchdog is an EXCELLENT one. The money disappears from our accounts the instant the request is made. This means it's earning interest for Paypal until they deem to release it to our accounts - it doesn't remain in our accounts until the non-existent 'security checks' are complete, so it's earning them money. It's bad enough that it takes 3 days for the money to be transferred as it is. It should be instant - as it is when they deduct their exorbitant fees. It happens fast enough when the money's flying in their direction. I've had no reply to my emails to them on this matter. Given the scale of this corporation, the entire things stinks of cynical GREED.
This has happened to me twice now and it's really frustrating.
I rely on the money paid by buyers to cover postage and now I will struggle to post my sold items unless paypal gets MY money into MY account in the next couple of days.
Makes me think twice about carrying on with Ebay to be honest.
Like other users, I am totally fed up that bank transfers are now taking so long - seems like a ploy to get people to use the new PayPal Access card instead. In six years of being a PayPal users and paying an absolute fortune in fees to the company, I am very unhappy with this situation.
Can anyone recommend a good alternative to PayPal for international payments please? I would love to be able to take my business elsewhere at this stage.

Er, really? How come every one of my withdrawals is being "reviewed"? And the withdrawals are not even initiated for more than 12 hours in some cases?
I've been selling on ebay and bearpile since 2007 and have never had any issues with pay pal, but for the whole of September and still in October everytime I make a withdrawal it's being held for 24 hrs for security checks I've asked them why and they said they would sort it, but still nothing resolved,it's really annoying as this is our money not theirs
Finally for the 1st time in nearly 2 months my withdrawal has gone straight through no 24 hr security rubbish, I'll still check my bank account, as you never know.
here we go again another withdrawal and another 24 hr security check from a bunch of money grabbing moron's, this time I will be emailing Watchdog pay pal you really need to sort this out
This has happened to me to. I have made 2 payments into my account since Paypal were forced to comply with European Law. the 1st went in straight away, the 2nd is 'pending' for 24hrs. Paypal have until 12:15pm BST today to deposit my funds or I suspect they will be breaking international law.Terrible service.
Have trasnfered many payments to my bank account with no problems and yesterday when I transfered a very small amount the system told me it would be reviewed and released within 4 Hours. Not 24 Hours.
It has now been 24 Hours and still it is pending a review.
I contacted Paypal by Phone and have now been told by an advisor that it can take 24 - 72 Hours!!!
Absolutley pathetic service and I suspect this kind of activity is illegal !
