Payment still pending after promised 72 hours

Hello, My account is fully verified with passport and proof of address. I use 2 step verification and fingerprint to log in. I have withdrawn money many times and the money arrives instantly into my bank account. However on the 30th of October the payment was being reviewed for the first time ever for up to 72 hours. I called Paypal, I was told on different occasions that it would be 21 hours, then 24 hours, then 72 hours. The 72 hours have passed now so I called and spoke to a supervisor whose name I won't disclose out of respect. She told me it needs another 2-4 hours and it has passed all the checks. Somehow I do not believe nor trust anything they say anymore and will take it to the Financial Ombudsman in 4 hours time if it is not in my account. They've magically also taken their commission already. And yes, the money has cleared completely from the sender I have documented proof. So it was with PayPal this whole time. My question is please, is there anything else I can do to make sure it is released before I take it to the Ombudsman? I am prepared to go to court because it is not a small amount of money. Thanks and sorry for the tone of my writing I am not pleased with the situation as you can imagine.

Had this answer from a mod when i asked the same question about withdrawals taking over 72 hours  >>

With the withdrawals, if it goes over the 72 hour time-frame it is usually because it was held in a pending status first for up to 24 hours. If the customer has only just received the funds into their PayPal Account or if it is a higher amount than usual then our security system may choose to hold the withdrawal before completing it into the bank account. It should show as "on hold" or "pending" in the customers activity letting them know. If this is the case then yes the withdrawal will go over the 72 hour time-frame.

Thank you. How long does it usually take longer than the 72 hours? I have received bigger amounts than this before even double and with no issues. I am baffled as there is nothing to secure. It is clearly me, and sender is a family member who has sent several times before.

Sorry only c.s. would know the answer to that one.

I am still amazed that they state withdrawals are between 2-72 hours but have not added on a pending status added part as well.   Smiley Frustrated

Shocking isn't it? Thankfully the payment just cleared. I can relax now. Thanks for your quick replies and support I appreciate it! Never using them again to receive cash they lost a good customer. You know what is the thing that bothered me the most? It is not the 72 hours.. It is the lack of transparency and lies from one customer agent to another. The supervisor is the only one whose information was accurate. Anyway.. What is done is done. Thanks again
