PAYPAL CREDIT - direct debit payments

I have a paypal credit account and have been happily paying it off by direct debit each month.

I decided to pay it off earlier so increased my direct debit to £150 a month. 

Guess what - they charged me £12 late payment fee because they never took the payment -

Apparently when you amend a direct debit it has an effective date so if it's after the payment is due you have to make a manual payment - apparently there is a POPUP telling you this -

I have never had this with any other company - A direct debit is set up by the company and once you ask for an amendment it gets done - if there is an effective date then the original payment is taken and the one after will increase 

this just seems to be a way of collecting late fees - I am not happy - anyway to recover this late fee 

if not at least its a warning to others - paypal credit won't be at the top of my list anymore

Did you have any luck with this as I have just heard the same thing happened to me.

I have deen regularly making a payment to you via PayPal credit  decided to increase the payment so I rang PayPal they did all the work  but still logging in today to look at my PayPal account £12 late fee  I am not happy bunny.

Same thing happened to me. Increased monthly payment. I never saw a popup. What cr*p.  

The direct debit details on my account stated the following:

"Direct Debit payment details:
Next payment date
12 Jul 2016
Payment amount
£50.00
Funding source
HSBC BANK PLC x-xxxx"

"Next payment date 12 Jul 2016" - which surely implies it will be taken out on the 12th. 

Terrible user experience from PayPal.

Same thing happened to me 

It should not have been an issue as I had 2 debts a month going out 

However....  They took no money for 2 months now I only found out by receiving a letter 

I seem to have stuck direct debits that I can't delete as they are still processing ugh... 

I'm going to ring them and remind them of the direct debit guarantee see if it helps
