My account was debited

Okay so i got an email today informing me my paypal account was debited, and I am abit confused as to how this works. I bought a product when I had enough money in my account, without realising the time delay on payments I still thought I had money in my bank so I spent it, later to realise that there wasn't enough money left to pay for the product I bought left in my account, so I got the email informing me my account was debited, and I have no idea what to do next or how to pay it back? Does PayPal just take the money out when it is in my bank or??

When you pay a seller it is never instantly taken from your bank account, paypal credit   the seller for you and then paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer from your bank account.

It can take from 2 hours up to 3 days before it leaves your bank account.

If there are no funds in there then paypal will try a few days later and if not then they will either use your back up funding source OR put your paypal balance into negative until you pay them back again.

Yeah I thought they'd do that, is just confused me when I checked my PayPal balance and it was still £00.00. Does it take a few days to update. Also to pay them back do I just need to add the funds to my PayPal account?
