Account overdrawn

Hi all

i have recieved a message from PayPal, at first I thought it was another spoof

it says they tried to transfer £2.50 to fund a purchase, it was an audio lead, this also appears on my profile when I log into my account, (not from a link in the email I might add)

the thing is I thought if I had no money in my PayPal account, it automatically tops up from my bank account when I buy something, in fact I've bought other items since, so why are they not able to take £2.50 from my account?

TIA

Hi Garfield13

Welcome to the community

When you make a payment the order goes as follows: Balance - Bank Transfer - Card. You are correct, when you do not have money in your balance the payment will come from the bank. However if your bank decides to review the payment which all banks do and if they decide to block the payment source then PayPal will move to the next available funding option, your card possibly. Best way to check is by clicking on the payment in your Activity page and choosing the detailed view to see what funding option was charged. If you send us an email or call us we can check this out for you on the account but not through this Forum.

To contact us by email:

  1. Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
  2. Click Help & Contact near the bottom of the page.
  3. Click Message Centre and follow the on-screen instructions. (Even if you're unable to log into your PayPal account, you can still send us a question. Under 'Unable to log in?' click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions).

We'll try to get back to you within 24 hours.

To contact us by phone:

Please call us on 0800 358 7911

Hope this helps

Adam
