Problems Relating To My Address.

I have used Ebay and Paypal for years ,payment being by Direct Debit from my Bank Account ..I last used it yesterday .

Today I saw something I was looking for and it was at a bargain price . I clicked to pay it in the usual ( Paypal) way and it said that payment option was not available and other options were   to use a different payment option ot contact Customer Services . I then tried using my Debit Card ( same bank account) and it seemed to work but then the message said "This order wasnt successful.. order cost has not been included in the total amount"

I phoned paypal CS and the girl was insistent there was no problem with anything at their end and it was likely to be with my bank . I then tried a test buying something with Paypal costing 99p and that worked .

I then phoned Santander and after speaking to Card Services she suggested it might be  because my address wasn't verified ....I have had my bank a/c for years and have lived at same address for years too so I dont understand that ....only difference is Ebay and Paypal have a Flat 2/2 in the address and Santander don't .but why should it be a problem after all this time . Using another Credit Card it dclined that too.

I then decided to buy a different item of the same appliance from another seller using the Paypal Option and it went through without a problem .

Any ideas guys ....is it possible the seller is the problem .If it was me or my bank or paypal accounts why would this last purchase go through .

EDIT:   Just remembered a couple of weeks ago another item I wanted to buy as again it was at a bargain price ..the payment didn't go though ...it was a new seller with little or no FB ...I cant remember what the message was that came up but I suspected it was a dodgy fake Dremel drill hence the cheap price

Hi @Stuart_B,

Apologies for the delay. We cannot say for sure but another reason for this could be that the merchant does not accept the type of card you are trying to pay with or payments in a different currency if they were outside of the UK. They do have their own payment receiving preferences so if you think everything is ok on your end this could be a possible reason. You could always reach out to the sellers directly to discuss this further.

Thanks for the response .

I did send a message to the seller and his explanation was thathis a/c had been hacked and the listing wasn't his and it has since been removed . ..No further explanation so seems my problems was related to the seller and his listing .  Thats the second time I have had trouble buying something recently and both were being sold at a "too good to be true" price so I guess Ebay watches for suspicious listings and removes them
