I no longer need website payments pro on my site, but I do want to change to payments standard. Ho wmuch notice do I have to give and what will it cost me?

Hi there JWnr,
If you would like to cancel Website Payments Pro through your PayPal account, you would have to send an email from the primary email address registered on your PayPal account to pro-support@paypal.co.uk. In this email, you will need to give us authorisation to cancel the account on your behalf.
Once we’ve received written authorisation from you to cancel Website Payments Pro, we’ll do so and confirm this via email.
Please note that Website Payments Pro is billed one month in arrears. This means you’ll receive an invoice at the beginning of the next month for £20 and the funds will be charged from the debit/credit card that’s registered to your PayPal account, between the 11th and 15th of that month. After this all billing will cease.

So, how long will it take from receipt of my email until Payments Pro is cancelled, and will there be a gap between that and us being able to accept payments through Payments Standard?

When you send the authorisation email, you should receive confirmation that it has been cancelled within around 72 hours or so. I would think that you should be able to receive payments using Website Payments Standard straight away.

Sorry, I just need to clarify this. Assuming for the sake of argument it takes 72 hours, when you say - you should be able to receive payments using Website Payments Standard straight away - , do you mean we will be able to receive payments immediately (at the beginning of the 72 hours), or only after 72 hours ?

When you have sent an email to us to request that website payments pro is cancelled, it will be 72 hours before the request has been completed and website payments pro is cancelled. As far as I am aware, during this 72 hours, you should still be able to receive payments via websites payments standard and you can continue to do this once websites payments pro has been cancelled.
