Western Union Frank Ben SCAM

So my husband is selling a truck on craigslist and received an email from Fran Ben a so called marine over seas, wanting to buy the truck for his son and get it shipped to California, we live in Houston.  He wanted to make transaction by PayPal and asked for my full name and email.  I receive four emails, One with details from the deposit including shipping fees... The second one said that the transaction was on hold because I first needed to send 900 dollars trhough westernUnion for and agent taking care of the shipping, in order to clear the transaction and have the money deposit into my account.  the third email had security information, and the last said not to call them with questions, that they did not appreciate calls and if i had questions to email... The emails look real, but Frank Ben used my middle name and all my paypal emails use only my first and last name.  the address had an circled R at the end, and letters where in bold and some in color.  People be ware...

This is a common scam can't believe anyone falls for it.

Why would they want payment via western union when they are supposedly using paypal to pay?

Reason you can't get back a western union payment so you would be scammed and their paypal payment will be fraudulent and reclaimed nearly as soon as paid if it shows at all, more likely you would get an email telling you the payment was in your account pending when it wasnt'

He just about got us too.  We have a Monte Carlo for sale and he said he wanted it no matter what and would send us the payment through paypal.

I'm a computer tech and am very leary about people jumping on stuff that fast and sight unseen.

You can mail me back with your PayPal email address or send me money request via PayPal so i can make the payment to you right now and if you don't have an account with PayPal you can set up an account today as it's secured and reliable visit their website on www.paypal.com... i will be responsible for the payment fees/charges on this transaction. Do not worry about shipping or picking up as my pick up agent will come and pick it up from you once have made the payment to you and i will also need your full Name,address and phone number. So kindly withdraw the advert from Craigslist Looking forward to read back from you asap...

I believe the same guy was trying to scheme me under a different name, Jack Lowery. He seemed to be a legit person as he had a photo of himself on his google profile and friends in his google circles. I actually thought he was interested until I got this email: Hi, i was about sending the funds when i got an email from the shipping company in charge of the pick up. They said i needed to pay a pick up fee in other to schedule and book a pick up arrangement with them.The only form of payments they claim to accept is Western Union and which i have included in your payment So i want you to help pay them the pick up fund. So i will be making an additional of $500 USD to the initial payments. $450 USD will be sent to the shipping company for the pick up charges and the $50 USD is for any transfer charges in the process of sending the money. Western Union transfer can be made at any mart near you.I will be making the payments shortly and will email you as soon as it is done.Sorry for any inconvenience.Thanks for understanding. wow i got an email from a guy named ben frank he told me he was intrested and that he wanted to by this violin he sent me my cashiers check so called accidently he sent me money for a 1500$ piano so he told me to deduct my money and to ship him the rest back through western union....

Just had the same guy try this on me under the "Jack Lowery" name. Thank god for this message board and a google search, although I wouldn't have sent a dime if the paypal payment hadn't gone through.

I wonder if JACK MARK is the same person.  I just received this email.  There is no way I will provide this information.  Anyone else get a similar message from a Jack Mark?

I recently had a scam atempt like yours from the email carloslavinramos at gmail.com. He contacted me at MercadoLibre.com and wanted to buy a living room I'm selling in México. When I sent the email he replied:
