Unable to access my account from abroad!!!

To make a long history short, I am paypal client in Spain for over 11 years, and travel abroad frequently for professional reasons to several countries. I never had a problem until today.

Today I tried to access my paypal account from abroad and received a message saying that I "should call paypal".

I did call paypal and they told me that they were unable to help because "paypal decided to provide country specific services, and you cannot access from abroad anymore".

I do not recall any bank that does not allow its customers to access their account when abroad. I do not understand how Paypal could invent this weird policy.

I even doubt that this is even legal. How can a client be denied access to his account, list of historic transactions, funds, resolution center, etc, just because he is travelling abroad?

Indeed this "security measure" is useless, as anyone can buy a VPN service to use a local IP.

     Anybody can help me?

Paypal is not a bank and does not have the banking rights that they have.

They have specific rules they have to follow that differ in every country, that is why it is country specific.

Banks have to comply with tough country specific regulations. Paypal does not have to comply with those country specific regulations. Therefore Paypal should be more global than any bank, and not the opposite.

Moreover, no regulation restrics neither any bank nor paypal to limit access when travelling abroad.

Just the opposite: if you have funds on a paypal account, paypal should facilitate access to your funds, otherwise it would be a criminal offense.

The same way that you have internet access to your funds in any bank account from any any country in the world, you should have internet access to your funds in your Paypal account from  any country in the world..

Anyway the goal  of this posting was not to discuss policy or philosophy, but to find a solution to a very clear issue: ANY CLUE ON HOW  CAN YOU ACCESS YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT WHEN TRAVELLING ABROAD?

Hi, have just come across your  message.  I spend half of my time in Morocco, buying for my business and they have been locking me out of my account for months now, i have to call them every other day (15 minute calls from Morocco to Ireland each time)

I was wondering if you had managed to sort out your account access problems.  I am hitting a brick wall (at speed!).   They keep tweaking my account but this only lasts for a few days.  They are trying to force me to open a Moroccan paypal account.   I can't do this because I have no address ('the Christian at the top of the hill' doesn't seem to compute on their system!)

I don't know what to do, I can't access all my client info or move my money around during my buying trips.
