Receiving phone calls from "Paypal" employees - 02086100150

Hi everyone,

I had received phone calls, 3 times this week from different people asking me to confirm my email address. I am really being annoying when I dont know what happens. Because I have only one paypal account, which links to my currently mobile number. I also sure there are no debt for any purchasing within 6 months. It makes me concerning about being fraud for privacy information or Paypal scram (someone pretends Paypal employee then makes phone calls?)

Does anyone have same situation? Should I call police for this?

Thank you for posting in our community. 

I understand that you have concerns in regards to this phone number. I can confirm that the phone number is from our collections team so it is not a scam.  Our collections team would need to verify if they are talking to the account owner so they can indeed ask for information. 

I would advise to answer the call so that you know why they are calling you. You can also call them back on the same number if you prefer that. But it is not a scam so there is no need to worry about that.

I have received several calls from this number and have now blocked it. What I want to know is if this is from paypal collections department then why are they calling me as my account is NOT I  repeat NOT in arrears so surely they would be aware of this so no need to call me. As such I treat this number the same as other fishing or scam calls. Please advise.

Hi Philbo1234, 

Thanks for your response, sorry that you did not receive a repley yet. It can be that your number is linked to maybe an old account that may have issues or it could even be that another PayPal customer made a mistake and entered an incorrect phone number. If you do not have an account that is in the negative I would advise to answer the call and to explains this so that they can remove your number and you will no longer receive calls. I understand that you have concerns  but as long as you keep your password and financial details safe everything is fine :).

I am being currently harrassed with daily calls from this number and messages are being left on my voice mail with a request to call back. At the moment I do not have any open cases nor is my account in arrears. I picked up the first call some weeks ago and the first question the person on the phone asked me was to confirm my email address. As I did not have any open issues nor had I request a call back, I refused to provide confidential information - specially as I had not requested Paypal to contact me. To the person on the phone I said I would need to receive an email from Paypal, to which he responded I would be receiving one shortly (which has not happened).

This number is now blocked and any voicemails will be deleted.

STOP CALLING ME!
