I don't understand how folks fall for it though, do they really think that paypal want them to use a rival service rather than themselves??

And why do people send items before the payment is showing in their paypal accounts??

Yeah, they even had the PAYPAL logo, which I know is easy to copy, still made it kind of legit looking.  I got suspicious as to why they were going to deposit $700 extra dollars and requiring me to ship to UK.  The poorer English was also a tip off at the bottom of the email.  The scary part now for me, is that sometimes deposits do actually show up in one's PayPal account using fraudulent sources.

Here is the threatening Email, complete with PAYPal logos I received after not having fallen for the scam.

:

I sent the SCAMMER back an email saying:  I am aware this is a SCAM so SCRAM.  Haven't heard back.

So the question I have is, do I have to change my account user name now?  I mean s/he does know what email I use for my PAYPAL account, but not the password.

Yeah!  Thanks!  That's what I thought, but I needed to hear it from someone.  PSWD was strong when I created it.

I received the same threatening email from Paypal.   I did not reply to the threatening Paypal email. However, I sent back an email to the scammer.  To the scammer I said, "I know this is a scam, so scram!"  No threatening emails or response from the scammer since.

I believe the threats are there as a last ditch effort to bully and intimidate you into sending them money.

Do not interact with the scammers just delete and ignore.

Whilst your paypal account should be fine if your password is strong they have been known to sign you up to horrible sites using your email address as revenge.

So as i say don't interact, ignore any threats and just delete the emails.

Hi thanks to be honest i havnt heard anything since yesterday morning so i think they must know they wont get any money out of me. I am glad i logged in here though as it does make you doubt yourself but i have now been reassured that it is a scam. i too saw some signs it wasnt cosher, the texting was larger than normal from paypal, some broken english. and there was a small r in a circle at the beginning of there email address which ive never seen before, other .than that it appeared to be genuine. These people are scum and i just hope more people read items like these before they get scammed. thankyou for your reply.
