Over £1300 Worth Of Fraudulent Payments

I've been having a little bit of trouble since last weekend bascially and I'm extremely annoyed with the way PayPal have been treating me regarding this matter.

 

Basically I receieved a phone call from the fraud department of my bank last Saturday (12th April) who wanted to check payments with me, and when they told me that £1300 had gone through to William Hill via PayPal and a further £100 and odd through my card itself, I was a little shocked. I had to phone PayPal Sunday morning but they just informed me they'd limit my account and have these checked for fraud and respect to the lady who helped me, she put every transaction through and reported it but for some reason I then receieved an email back within a matter of a few hours saying these transactions weren't fraudulent and so case closed.

William Hill informed me they would investigate and my bank also said they would check up with PayPal and William Hill. But I spoke to my bank yesterday (Thursday 16th April) and they just informed me William Hill and PayPal have said it's come from my computer and IP address when I know that this isn't the case but I've mentioned I don't know how many times that my laptop has been playing up whenever it comes to online banking and purchases, and when my bank told me to run scans, 22 were found. 

 

But after William Hill and PayPal have said this to my bank, they are now not treating this as fraudlent and refuse to pay me my money back. I phoned PayPal back up yesterday too straight after the phone call to the bank and the woman on the phone spoke to me in a disgusting manor. I explained the situation to her and how claims are saying I've made the purchases, she was like "So you did make the purchases then?" And asking me why I was speaking to her pretty much, but she said she would escalate one final claim to the highest up team but after that there was nothing she could do.

 

Since then I've had no confirmation emails or have I had any responses. So basically my PayPal account has been hacked, stolen from and my bank, William Hill and PayPal seem to be putting the blame sqaure on me.

 

I was just going to write a complaint to PayPal but can't message them until I put my new card details in as my bank have removed them from PayPal. But I don't want to edit these credentials because frankly, I no longer feel safe using PayPal knowing I've had so much money stolen from my bank via them, and their staff are horrible. 

 

What else can I do now?

Sorry but you ran a scan on your computer, yes?

You found virus's yes?

So your accounts were hacked due to the viruses and you lost money.

 

Not sure how that is someone else's fault as it was your own security that caused the problem??

 Don't get me wrong, I've always had virus protection on my computer, always run scans at least once every few days but it never picked anything up. How was I to know it wasn't good enough?

I understand that, everyone gets caught out with virus's every now and then as anti-virus protection by its very nature is reactive and not proactive.

 

But that is not really my point. My point is that however you got the virus it was on your computer and caused your account to be hacked, so its really your responsibility.

 

To be fair to paypal and your bank, why should they reimburse you for something that was not their fault??

Well I see where you're coming from but the only reason I expected to be reimbursed is because my bank and companies like PayPal promise to pay you back if you are a victim of fraud
