This transaction cannot be completed... Please help!

I have been unable to pay for anything at all on eBay for over a month now - every time I try to, (after entering my PayPal password) it comes up with the message "This transaction cannot be completed... At this time, we are unable to process your request. Please return to eBay and try another option." No error code or other further information is given. There is simply a button that says "Go Back to Merchant".

This is extremely frustrating as I have clicked 'commit to buy' for an item and can now no longer pay through the eBay shopping cart because it has been so long.

I have tried emailing PayPal - twice now - to no avail; I have not received a single reply to my emails, and I sent them WEEKS ago. And eBay says that it is a problem on PayPal's end. I have not had this problem with the help system before, so I've kind of been left hanging here...

I would really like to continue to use PayPal to pay for my purchases, but this is rather impossible if none of the payments are going to go through! Sending money directly to the seller is also not an option - I'm not prepared to take the risk.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I have encountered a similar problem today. I can not pay with paypal; getting the same message as above even through I've tried switching between cards with no success. Is there any problem with the system.

Same problem for me after I purchased the first item

"This payment cannot be completed and your account has not been charged. Please contact your merchant for more information."

Return to merchant and try a different payment method

We are not able to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please return to the merchant's website and try using a different payment method (if available).

I made sure I have enough founds to buy these items and have tried several times. No luck.

I spoke to customer service and they adviced me to wait for about an hour then retry. I did exactly that and on next attempt it worked. I think there was a security issue either from my system or PayPal.

Same issue here

"This payment cannot be completed and your account has not been charged. Please contact your merchant for more information."

Have enough founds. Not 100% sure if it is a matter of not being totally verified with PayPal, which only makes it harder as I'm not living in US for some more months and don't have utility bills to send as proof address.

I am getting the same message. It was my first attempt to purchase online with Paypal and I was worried I set something up wrong.

I'm just not sure what to do about it. Has anyone been able to make a purchase on Ebay after posting on this topic?

Thanks

I was adviced to leave it for about an hour and retry. I did that and it worked like magic. Hope it works for you.

No, it's still not working - for me it's been over a month, tried waiting an hour on the first day; nothing. Waited several; nothing. Waited days; nothing. =( Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

And I'm not based in the US, so I'm kind of worried that the phone bill will stack up too much if I call...

Admins - if you're there, please help!
