OK, here it goes. I work for a nonprofit. We have a Donate button on our website and if you click it, it works fine -- you're taken to the PayPal page for the nonprofit and you can fill out the form and make your donation. But if I copy the link of the PayPal page on which to make a donation and paste it in, say, a Facebook post, it will work at first, but a few minutes after posting the link on FB, you click on it and you are taken to a page that says, "Sorry -- your PayPal session has timed out."
So how do I post a link on Facebook that when you click on it, you will be taken to my nonprofit's PayPal page and you can make your donation? If you could please tell me what to do as if you are explaining it to a fairly intelligent 7 year-old, that would be good. If I need to rewrite code or be fairly technically savvy, I'm not going to get it, but if you can give me the steps to fix it, I'd so appreciate it! (Or do we need to purchase something extra from PayPal to make the link work?) I know vaguely that cookies are somehow involved, but beyond that...
Thank you!

FaceBook is a totally different animal from a basic web site page. Assuming the nonprofit is using the actual item button code for a donation, you can't just copy that code and use it on a FaceBook page.
When you use the online button creator from within your PayPal Account to generate item button code, the code that is created is an HTML Form. In order to have that similar function on FaceBook, one option is use the text or hyperlink version of the donation item button code. (FaceBook does not allow you to use HTML Forms.)
You can build your own Button Text Links from scratch or take advantage of the Online Button Creator within your PayPal Account. After generating the button code online, select the "Email" tab to view the Text Link Code. Note, the "Email" tab will not be available if have included dropdown selections or text boxes in your item button code. This is because you cannot include dropdown selections or text boxes in a Text or Hyperlink.
There info on the internet that explains how you can include a PayPal Donation link on your FaceBook page, here's one example:
