Cannot provide proof of SSN

Hello all,

I am trying to remove the limit from my account which is preventing me from adding money from my bank account. I am asked to provide proof of personal information in order to do so, however, I have encountered a problem.

Uploading my driver license was not a problem, and it settled for proof of both my name and my address. Lastly, I am being asked to provide proof of SSN, but I cannot.

I am 18 years old and dependent upon my parents. As a result, they do not want to allow me access to my Social Security card, for safety reasons. Thusly, I cannot upload it to verify my SSN. What am I to do? I would like to add money from my bank account so that I can safely make eBay purchases without worrying about how PayPal will handle taking money from the bank account without a balance, rather I can simply transfer from my bank account to my PayPal balance prior to making a purchase.

I do have one document, the agreement form from when I opened my bank account (which is less than 6 months old), would that satisfy the requirement for proof of SSN? I'm not sure what to do.

Unfortunately you're issue is more with your parents than PayPal.   PayPal has specific legal requirements and providing a SSN, ITIN or EIN is part of the verification process.

On the bottom of the card it states "... not for identification." My drivers liscence does not require my SSN, if it is good enough for AZ. it should be good enough for PayPal.
