I've had several responses to an ad I placed on craigslist selling my tractor. The scenario goes like this: I am out of town and can only pay by paypal....I will have someone come and pick it up.
Would you be suspicious of this type of response? Why not ask, How the tractor runs? Is it 4wd or not? What's wrong with it?
ON and ON, these are the questions (and More) that I would be asking before I buy a 6k tractor on line sight unseen?
What's wrong with this picture?
I cannot get a straight answer from paypal and each time I inquire, the same answer is given to me.....that is....it'a all legit and the buyer cannot come back and take the money out of your account once it's verified and in there. Furthermore, you can take that money out of paypal and put it in your own bank account and that is suppose to solidify the deal even more.
Anyone else every run across situations like this? how did you handle it?

Craig's List is a play ground for scams - yes there are legit people who are great to deal with however, sometimes mixing this service with PayPal is "red flag". Best advice, sell your tractor local for "cash". If you read the User Agreement, your transaction won't be covered for Seller Protection. Since you cannot mail a tractor, that's a problem and if you deliver it or have it picked up, that's another reason you won't have any protection.

Thank you snow cat.....I know craigslist is a bit risky and was just wondering how that would work if I got the money in my acct and someone came to pick up the tractor....would I ever have to refund the money, because the deposit into my acct was not valid?
I do agree though.... best not to deal with anyone accept in cash and locally...
Thanks

The buyer can file item not received with Paypal and you cant prove delivery.
if you dont have the money in your Paypal account, then the account turns negative and PAYPAL will ask you to restore it to neutral,if you dont, then either Paypal will come after you or a collection agency will .
I cant believe Paypal staff tells you it is ok.
Your buyer is not interested in your tractor,he will send you a fake paypal payment of tractor and freight ,telling you the money is witheld waiting for you to go to a site and pay freigh shipping .
since he has paid you freight,so you are just using his money to arrange freight.
now they got your freight money, there willbe no pickup.
go to ebay seller forum ,they have a category for vehicles of all kinds, plenty of people chat there.
