I recently recieved a letter in the mail telling me i owed $200 to paypal, which is strange because I'd only ever used the account as a way to keep track of prepaid gift cards I'd recieved and i never linked a bank account or credit card of any kind to it. When I went online to check, it says my Paypal balance is $-200, there is a new bank account from Charles Schwab that definitely is not mine linked to the account, and 4 transactions of $50 each were made to someone. When I tried to make a claim with the resolution center it says the payments are not contestable so I'm not sure what I can do here. I don't have any information beyond the name and email, which are likely fake, and the last 4 digits of the bank account number. It's clear to me that my account was stolen and paypal credit was used to steal money but is there anything i can do to remove the balance or am i stuck with this now?

What are the dates of the transactions?

You can phone PayPal support for details and dispute as unauthorized.

You need to talk to a PayPal agent who can explain what is going on.

It maybe that you gave another party access.
