Sold a customer an item back on Dec. 24, 2016 and had PayPal sent the gentleman $170 from my PayPal account in Aug. 2017.....just happened to see the transaction myself and was never contacted before PayPal dipped into my account withou any notice. Seems the customer said when he received the item back in Dec. 2016 it was broken and filed for a refund in May 2017.....seems a little strange?? I guess !! Anyway, PayPal fell for the story hook, line and sinker and he has the item and all of his money returned.......I've contacted PayPal and they agreed it was their fault and would deposit the money back into my account. After a week I contacted them again and their story changed....Sorry, but now they find the case in the buyers favor and I'm OUT over $170.....I love selling on E-bay and have used PayPal exclusively but am looking for answers....Anyone ?? Thanks

You may want to try PayPal customer support again - sometimes getting the right person at the right time works.
