Is there any form of buyer protection for purchases that ship in more than 45 days?

Hi,
I recently purchased some electronics for a sizable sum, and have not interacted with the buyer before. The stated delivery time on the website is between six and seven weeks, which means that the 45 day window for filing a dispute closes before the seller would normally ship the product.
The dispute window on my purchase hasn't elapsed yet, and I'm pretty confident the transaction will go through without a hitch, since the seller is reasonably reputable. In the general case, though, is there any way to extend the deadline for filing a dispute (just in case)? As things stand, the seller could simply decide not to ship the product, and there would be no way for the buyer to recover the money they transferred.
Thanks

You will have extra protection if you fund your paypal payment with a card as you could do a chargeback via your card issuer.
HOWEVER you do have longer if you play it this way.
1. On day 44 file a dispute for non receipt of item...telling the seller this is just for your protection....and hope they have shipped the item or they may change their minds.
2. After that you have up to another 20 days before you have to escalate to a claim...so if its near 20 days >>escalate to a claim.
3. That gives ANOTHER 10 days and for international transactions paypal have been known to give a tad more before the seller has to refund you.
THEN if the item turns up after you have been refunded then you can always re-pay the seller.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
