Basically, I am considering donating to authors who do some TL work. However, I find there are times where I am tight on money. Is it possible to get the donation back? Like say I was in a particularly good mood, and donated $40 to a TLer, but then later I realized my gas tank was empty, and my budget was going to be $30 short because I forgot about that.

if you paid via friend and family,it is considered a cash gift.
You can always ask them if they can give you some money.
