First time selling a car

I need some help, I'm selling a car on a online site.  I have a offer for full asking price for someone out of town.  I tired to sell a set of tires about a year ago, for $125.  I got a offer from a man from out of state, he wanted to also send me the money for his guy to pick them up.  He sent me a cashiers check for $12,000.  I did not go through with the sale, so I'm kind of gun shy about doing it with paypal. He's willing to give full asking price for the car.  Says I'll have the money in my account before he gets the car.  Is this a safe way to do this?

No sounds like this scam  >>

They encourage you to use paypal and don't quibble on cost and may also say they can't view the item as they are disabled or working abroad etc etc but they will arrange a shipping agent to collect it.
You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

If the item requires shipping the 'fake' paypal email will tell you that the buyer has paid for the item + shipping costs but you must send those shipping costs to the courier/ shipping agent via western union, moneygram or walmart etc BEFORE the funds are released to you.
They are not interested in the car, they just want the western union etc funds and you will never see money in your paypal balance.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal NEVER expect you to use a rival money transfer service eg Moneygram or Western Union etc.
Also their is no seller protection on paypal for any type of motor vehicle or item that is collected by the buyer.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

He says he’ll pay for the shipping himself. Would only pay me for the car. I will admit I’m selling it for cheap since I do need the money $5,000 under value. But still have my worries.
