Can't see confirmation of payment in my account but received an email receipt

I am selling an item and have sent a payment request to the buyer.  I have received several emails from <removed> indicating that they payment has been made (a receipt and a confirmation of fund) but when I log into my account, I don't see any such confirmation.  I'm very suspicious and don't want to get burned.  The launguage in the email seems a little off, causing me further suspicion.
