Hi
Maybe I can get some help/support how to proceed and what my rights are. This would be really appreciated.
I sold a 10 y old tft computer monitor on ebay UK (privately, I am not a business).
Two weeks later, without contacting me upfront, the buyer opened a claim here on PayPal (not with ebay), saying the monitor is damaged and not working.
I tried to help but the buyer was very cryptic with his messages and not really willing to help solving the problem.
Basically I discovered the buyer is using a casting dongle (chromecast or something similar) and my supplied HDMI/DVI adapter with this monitor and it doesn't work. There is a video uploaded on YouTube (r1LAG5mQjE0) as well.
After some research from my side, I found out chromecast will most likely not working with any monitor and a HDMI/DVI adapter.
Only a direct HDMI connection is supported. Chromecast will display a booting image for a second and the display will turn and stay black afterwards.
This is exactly the situation the buyer is experiencing with the monitor.
PayPal now decided against me and said the buyer should receive a refund as the monitor is not working.
I think this is not right. This is a computer monitor and it will work perfectly with a computer. It was also working with DVD players and some media players in the past. The buyer's dongle is not supported and is just not fit for purpose, It's meant to use on a TV and it might work on a computer monitor.
What can I do now?
Thanks for any help!
