Aloha!

Recently, I tried selling of my Moped Scooter on craigslist.

Basically, this guy is being too cool about the whole purchase I figure something is fishy so I thought I'll ask for some advice.

Its basically a second-hand Moped Scooter in fair condition. He basically said he'll pay via PayPal because he was in the military and out of state and he'll get his friend to pick it up after the money has been transferred to me. All he required was my paypal name and and address.

He does not seem to care about the state of the Moped, when I asked him if he would like his friend to inspect it first before he transferred the money, he was just too cool about it. He says that the photos on CL makes him very sure it would be okay.

So basically, should I proceed with it?

Mahalo for the help!

THIS IS A TYPICAL PAYPAL SCAM.

They encourage you to use paypal and often say they can't view it as they are in the services abroad or working as a marine engineer etc.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.

It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

If the item requires shipping they will tell you that they will pay you extra and you must pay the agent via western union / moneygram BEFORE the funds are released to you.

They are not interested in the item, they just want the western union etc funds and you will never see money in your paypal balance.

They also threaten legal action...have a laugh at that one and ignore it as its rubbish.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.

Paypal NEVER expect you to use a rival money transfer service.

Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

Also there is NO PAYPAL SELLER PROTECTION for motor vehicles. Cash on collection only is my advice.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
