Is this website a scam or what?

I am looking for an iPhone for my daughter and came across this site. http://www.cheapiphone4sforsale.us It seems the prices are too good to be true. I know what that means too, but I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this site. They say they take Paypal. So I don't know if I purchased a phone here and it was never delivered, would Paypal compensate the payment?

You don't have to use PayPal.

You may be better off simply using a credit card.  If there is an issue, you contact your credit card issuer for assistance with a charge back.

No reason to complicate things.

I agree. It's just that I have credit in my Paypal account I would rather use. I read somewhere that PayPal can not give you a refund if the seller scams you and has no money in their Paypal account. Once you pay through Paypal the scammers withdraw the funds instantly and your screwed. Is that true?

Hey John,

First, I think you made a wise decision to not purchase an IPhone from cheapiphone4sforsale.us!

In regards to your post above you're correct not getting reimbursed if the seller scams you and takes the money out of their account soon after you send the payment.  This exact scenario happened to me on Ebay in which I was scammed out of $1200.  But you are only correct 50% of the way and my situation where I was scammed is a perfect example for this.

If you use money that is in your PayPal account it's PayPal's policy that they can only withdraw the funds from the scammers account.  And all they can do is put that account in the negative and reimburse you if the seller were to put money back into their paypal account for whatever reason.  But if the intention was to scam I doubt that account will ever be touched again.  PayPal can't touch any accounts that are linked to their accounts like bank or credit cards.

As stated above by you have more protection from this type of scam if you pay with your credit card through PayPal.  By using your credit card you have double protection with PayPal still doing what they can but you also are covered by your credit card and being able to issue a charge back.  Your credit card company doesn't care how much money the scammer has in their PayPal account or in their piggy bank on their desk.  Credit card companies don't take this type of stuff lightly and once you contact them it's a pretty quick process in which they remove the charge from your card and poof you didn't lose a dime.  The credit card company will then go after the scammer as it is in fact their money that the scammer stole.  All you have to do is provide proof the item was paid for and you never received it which is easy if it's all documented on PayPal.

Back to my story when i got scammed out of $1200 on ebay.  I purchased a computer from ebay and paid with money that was in my PayPal account as I just sold some items like the computer I was upgrading from.  What happened was I received an email from another ebay member asking if I purchased the computer that I had won.  I told him that I already paid and he told me that he and 3 other people also paid this seller.  When we confronted the seller about  the 5 sales for the same computer which was an auction and I was the winning bidder there was no mention of more than one computer for sale.  The other members were contated with second chance offers after I already paid.  Now since I paid with the money in my Paypal account I was only able to recover $75.  The ebay member that was also taken by this scammer paid with his credit card through PayPal and already had his charge back taken care of while I was dealing with the dispute process..

That was one long story, sorry about that, but when I read your post I thought you really needed to know what the deal is and so you don't have to go through what I did.  I'm still **bleep** off about that and it's been over 5 years now, it just sucked!!  So when purchasing anything online with yhour available paypal balance make sure it's from a trusted seller and cheapiphone4sale is definitely not a trusted seller.

Like you said to good to be true!

Hi. Did you ever receive your phone from this company or did you not purchase from them? I unfortunately did purchase from them and have not recieved a confirmation number or cannot get any response to my emails. I'm really starting to think I got scammed by these folks!

I never ordered a phone from them. It just sounded too good to be true. I was holding out hope that they were legit. I hope you didn't get ripped off. Hopefully you can get your money back if your phone doesn't arrive.
