Didn't receive an item from Family Friend transaction

I was told by a seller to click family/friends so there would be no additional fees. Now I haven't heard from this person (who is not a family or friend at all). I'm afraid I won't receive my item. I paid her a lot of money. Can I still file a claim to get my money back? I'm afraid this person found a loophole to scam me.

If they were not a family member or mate that  you were sending a "gift" to then you should not have agreed to that option.

Not only did you enable him to evade paying the fees he should be paying as a seller but you negated any paypal buyer protection that you may have had.
