I want to make a purchase with my debit card.. I have zero balance in paypal wallet, and I have a visa and bank account linked with 100% verified profile.
I always make all my purchases through my bank instantly.. with visa as a backup source.
What I'd like to confirm is if I am covered by the buyers protection if I continue to do so, or do I have to move funds to my paypal wallet balance and pay by the funds in my account, in order to be covered?
Thanks

Simply add your visa or mastercharge debit card to your account FIRST. Select debit card as your payment method to pay when you check out with PayPal.
In other words, (after adding your debit card to your account) when you have zero in your PayPal Balance and when you check out with PayPal, after the PayPal log-in step, it lets you select your payment method in the box on the right, choose your debit card that you added as where the money will come from. You'll be covered with PayPal Buyer Protection as long as you meet their requirements, see: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#13.
You're only not covered if you pay for goods via the family/friends/gift method.
Paying PayPal invoices or sending payment for goods method and paying through PayPal checkout you're covered. But read up on the PayPal Buyer Protection requirements via the link above.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thanks for the help.. I read through that link... and heres where my question lies... under:
13.3 Ineligible Items. Payments for the following are not eligible for reimbursement under PayPal Purchase Protection:
Specifically : PayPal Direct Payments
Their definition of direct payments:
"PayPal Direct Payment" means a payment processed by PayPal that is funded directly by a credit or debit card and not through an Account, such as payments made through PayPal Payments Advanced and PayPal Payments Pro, but excluding payments made using guest checkout.
So.. As I understand... that means I would have to move my funds from my bank to my "Account Balance" ...otherwise I am not covered?? Sorry im just a little confused..
