180 day policy: need paypal official answer on how EXPIRED products will be handled

How will the new paypal 180 rule cover the following :

actual scenario:

 

1.buyer buys vitamins which must be sealed and unopened to be returned.

 

2. buyer opens vitamins; takes all of them but one in the 179 days before the 180.

 

3. vitamins have since EXPIRED 60 days prior.

 

4. buyer wants refund on opened, expired product; not permissable by FDA.

 

How will this be handled, and as well, how will all dated products be handled?

That's an excellent question! All disputes will still be worked based on the merits of the case, even though we've extended the time frame to dispute. And with this scenario, no matter when the case is filed, it is very likely we would deny this case. We would need an extremely good reason why they used all but one of the vitamins (including after they expired), then suddenly feel the need to dispute them.

 

And even if we did, for some odd reason, find the case in their favor they'd still have to return the item to you in the original condition which wouldn't be possible for so many reasons. 🙂

Dear Andy...thank you most kindly for this excellent clarification.

 

I think the new policy might need some additional tweaking vis a vis products with dates that expire as this is rather a huge category which falls into play within a 180 day time frame...just a thought...

 

as well...the main issue is:  there is no way to return a used vitamin product with its two seals still intact.

 

tip: amazon handles this thusly:

This product is not returnable if opened or tampered with, or used in any manner.
